A large variety of vacuum forming grade plastic materials have been developed to suite different product requirements. Here we have listed some of them and given examples of their uses. These materials are held in stock by the suppliers and are available for purchase at short notice.

High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS)

This competitively priced material is available in a variety of attractive colours which include red, blue, yellow, ivory, orange, purple, opal, black, white and clear. Surface finishes include gloss, matt and leather grain.

It moulds very well, but do not be fooled by the name, this may be the high impact version of polystyrene, but it should not be used where impact strength is an important criteria.

This is often used in point of sale type applications.  Regrind grades are often used in industrial applications.

ABS

This tough material is used when impact strength is required. Available in black, white or carbon fibre effect there are a variety of surface finishes including smooth pinseal and leather grain. Fire retardant grades are also available.

Other colours are available to special order subject to minimum ordering quantities.

This is a general purpose vacuum forming material with wide ranging applications including machine panels and covers etc.

Regrind grades are very cost effective

Acrylic capped ABS

This material is comprised of a thick layer of ABS on one side and a thinner layer of acrylic on the other. This combination provides the impact strength of ABS and at the same time the beautiful finish of acrylic. High gloss, scratch resistance and outdoor weathering are some of the characteristics.

This outstanding material is available in black, white and silver and is the material of choice when durability and high levels of finish are required.

Other colours are available to special order subject to minimum ordering quantities.

Polypropylene (PP) and High density polyethylene (HDPE)

These two similar materials are both tough and reasonably priced. They are the obvious choice when impact strength is critical. They do not however have a high level of finish. Chemical resistance and the ability to withstand repeated steam cleaning are some more of their qualities. Durable mould tools are essential because of their high levels of mould shrinkage.

These materials are usually used for functional components such as storage trays, component handling trays or outdoor covers etc..

Conductive grades are also available for use in the electronics industry.

Please note that we are custom moulders, we do not supply unprocessed sheet materials
